Summer Wedding - risk of flight cancellations+price hikes?
Hello, getting married in Italy this summer, but haven't yet booked venues or anything - about to later this week. Given current events causing oil and food prices to increase, I'm worried about either flights being cancelled (for us and close family or for our guests) and/or venue/caterers/other suppliers hiking up their prices later because cost of everything's gone up.
What can we do to prevent/prepare for this? Insurance? Will wedding insurance cover any of these issues (Iran war is quite a new/unique situation - with Covid, insurance didn't cover these a lot of Covid-related cancellations)? Is there anything we can/should put into contracts with suppliers to avoid later price hikes?
Thank you!

Hope this is just you +1 and a couple of mates, wedding overseas in less than 6 months and no bookings yet made sounds ambitious, let alone with the other wider World problems.
Do you or other half or close friend/family speak Italian?
Friends/family living in Italy?

That is a tight timeframe to organise everything.
Make sure you understand the constraints of any travel and / or event insurance with regard to "acts of war" and how narrowly / broadly that applies.
Even some secondary risks such as fuel shortages could be assessed as the result of acts of war.

I'd say you're leaving it very late to organise a wedding overseas for this summer... Unless it's just the two of you plus a couple of witnesses?
Are you familiar with the Italian legal requirements involved? Are you planning it in a non-tourist area? Are you ok with limits on dates and venues
This might be of interest...

I speak fluent Italian. Venue and everything already found. Just need to sign and put deposit down. Logistics is not the issue. I'm wondering if anyone has up to date advice on wedding insurance and what it covers in the current climate (aka war on Iran and hike in oil prices). And whether there's anything besides insurance I should /can put in place to protect myself further

Ultimately there's no hard and fast rules on what wedding insurance covers, you'll need to read the fine print of the policies you're considering to ensure it meets your needs, at a cost you're willing to pay.
