Your inverter won’t work with Intelligent Octopus Flux, which reduces the choice a bit. You also need a smart meter - so start by making sure you have one, getting the export set up on outgoing Octopus, and getting the hang of when you use power. Over the summer you may find you need to import very little, and will export quite a bit, particularly if you’re out most of the day!

    Hi greenbee

Thank you again. I do have a smart meter. So I will contact Octopus on Tuesday and ask for outgoing Octopus and they will help me from there I presume?

You can probably join Outgoing Octopus by contacting Customer Service, but there's also a web form that leads you through the process and it's almost automatic.

    I shared the link earlier:

I think you just click the "sign me up" button.

I'm pretty sure there was no human interaction when I applied for my export MPAN and signed up the Outgoing. As long as you have PDF versions of your "paperwork" (MCS/DNO) you can do it online. Took a couple of days to process, IIRC.

I did mine online and it was very quick, so you should be able to be up and running with export by the end of this week if you have all the right information.

I had to chase but they got there reasonably quickly once they stopped fannying around.

It's an unfortunate thing with Octopus that you're always stuck with the first line call handler, if it's something they don't understand themselves then they never pass you over to someone who does, or to the specific team. So in our case the fannying around was "someone" saying that "something" on the MCS certificate didn't match our property. First line handler couldn't tell me what the "something" was, nor could I speak to the "someone" who was making that claim. All they could tell was that they couldn't apply for the export MPAN for that reason. It took a complaint before they accepted everything was in order and there was no mismatch.

I would suggest reading the Trustpilot reviews of Fox before considering their products.
