Gmpf going back to council..pension query

Hi 2015 Salford care became Aspire care a Community Integrated Company....today we have gone back to council..I have been on sick for last 4 months..but this year I qualify for rule of 85…so I decided to check my online statement…to be greeted with your company says your leaving page…initially thought have I been sacked? But then realised probably due to returning to council control…I expect I will soon get a letter asking wether I should combine pensions..aspire one..added to new council pension.ir keep them seperate... I would imagine combine them for convenience sake…does this matter..or is it a neutral admin pension decision thanks

Just to clarify - back in 2015, your GMPF pension was deferred, and you started a new pension with Aspire? ie, Aspire weren't given Admitted Body status (which would have meant that employees remained eligible for LGPS membership) and so offered their own pension scheme?

In that case, your pensions should be amalgamated automatically - unless your new post is on a lower pensionable (pre 2014 rules) pay. However, being on extended sick leave may muddy the waters - have you confirmed with your HR that you are definitely being transferred back to a GMPF post?

You are aware that your R85 protections will only apply to your pre 2008 accruals?
