MBNA getting canny

think MBNA may have been on here looking at how we move debts around on BT offerers etc.
Saw their latest advert on tv last night and in very small print at the bottom it said you couldn't do a transfer to another MBNA card!
How's that for being sneaky, restricting who you can transfer to. Thought most of the time they just refuse you the offer if you've already had a card with them but guess they're going for the belt and braces approach.
Hope no one gets stung by this and ends up not being able to do the BT they were planning to do.

Hiya,
I'm afraid it's not just MBNA, it's a lot of banks that do it, e.g. if you have a Tesco card that is run by RBS you can't put the balance onto another RBS card, it's a tric that's been going on for ages...the credit card board is full of it!
Also makes life somewhat difficult if someone has a 'stable' of cards that are all from the same bank, what with the credit crunch that is going on at the moment....I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

That's pretty standard
They've stopped their £5 payment when you're on 0% too

just goes to show i haven't applied for a cc for a while. MBNA was my last one and they were so very nice to deal with (not) but at least they are gone now, that's must be why the advert actually registered in my head, i usually just tune them out.0

There is a pretty good reason for this, rather than standard practise. Why should they pay their own debt.?
I.E. - I owe the OP (for example) £200, i then lend another £200 of him to repay the original £200, so i still only owe him £200.
Unfortunately, CC companies dont len dmoney for nothing, in the case of MBNA, they have over 1000 different credit cards taking into consideration all the "affinity groups" - ie football cards, event cards - concerts etc. if they allowed you to keep transferring, you would have all those cards to transfer to at 0% - they would never make any money (and then i would never get paid)No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

I was in a panic there - I take it the end of the £5 payment Gemmzie was talking about is for new cards. Just had a mad panic to find last statement in case I had to change DD but it's still £5 on mine. I'm not planning on hitting this one until I've paid the Halifax off.Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
Mortgage balance: £34,965

Nope, it's on all cards. When you are 0% it's now a normal payment, it'll change on your next statement I expect. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
