Ben 10 cake! Help!

I hope someone can help. My little boy has asked for a Ben 10 cake for his birthday. None of the local supermarkets do them yet. So my theory was I was going to print off an image from the internet and get one of those personalised birthday cakes. However...I read somewhere that I would'nt be able to do that as it is a copyrighted image. Is that true? I will be popping to Asda tomorrow to enquire, I'm just worried one person will say yes and then a few days before his birthday someone else says no.
The other alternative is to buy the decorations online. I've seen one set I like for £8.99....so that's the decorations and then I'd have to buy the cake and possibly pay double. Im not sure I want to pay that for a cake. I could *gulp make the cake but people from work are coming for the party...I don't know if I could live it down if it all goes wrong and I am not skilled enough to ice a Ben 10 (or a fourarms to be precise..he's four, he wants a candle on each arm).
I hope someone can help

It depends who you speak to in asda, some will do it some wont, a way of getting round it is to copy an image you like stick it in paint and get rid of any references to cartoon network etc. and print that out. It worked for my friend who wanted a dora the explorer cake, she also added a pic of her daughter to the cake beside dora so it looked like she was part of the scene it looked really good.0

Could you use ready rolled icing to cover the cake (its really easy to do, hardly any skill involved), Use food colouring to colour some red & cut a sillohette of 4 arms out using a printed out picture thats been cut out as a guide?
Love the idea of a candle in each hand for a four year old!You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
A bit late for the op, but I came accross this thread when I was searching for Ben 10 cake ideas myself and thought I'd let you know what I've done as it's very simple. I've done 2 now, one for the actual birthday, and a slightly different one for the party.
Both were Ben 10 watch cakes, the second with design input from my son!
I made a round cake and then iced the top completely. I used golden icing sugar to make water icing but white would be fine, or a pale grey would be most accurate. The next bit is difficult to describe but if you're familiar with the watch then I hope you'll understand what I mean. Using a tube of black writing icing I piped a black line around the edge of the cake then for the first cake drew a > < shape from about a quarter way up/down the black ring to about two thirds of the way into the centre (i.e. not meeting in the middle) . I then coloured the central bit in with green icing and decorated it with some sumo ben 10 characters I bought from Woolworths. They cost about £6 but it's something he can keep and play with. I wrote "Happy Birthday" in the left hand non-green bit and his age in the right hand one. I did the base layer of icing the night before and the decoration only took a short while, despite being 'helped' by his 2 year old sister.
For the second cake he wanted a diamond shape (the > < changes into a diamond as the watch does it's business) so I did that in the middle of the cake, again filling it with green icing, and put the heatblast sumo character in that with the candles and wrote above and below the diamond.
I prefered the first one I did, but that might be because I was really pleased myself for thinking of it and because he instantly recognised what it was! His friend who came to tea seemed suitably impressed too. After the success of the first I had high expectations of the second. It is a much larger cake for his party with a lot more imperfections and I don't know if it's so obviously Ben 10. It's the party tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.0 -
I remember my friend wanting a Dora cake 3 years back.Tesco would not use a printed picture so got my Dad to draw one freehand and they were happy to use this!!0
