Loan and CC

hi, i had a loan with HSBC (as i had my mortgage with them 3 years ago) unfortunately i had to move home to look after my mother who was very ill, i had to give up my job to do this. Although i agreed to pay a reduced amount on my loan the bank have put this as a default and after months of them cancelling my appointments, refusing to give me a new appointment (which they would actually keep) & harassing my elderly parents they have passed my debts onto a collection company who are demanding £268 pcm & are refusing to negotiate this amount.
I am considering a vouluntary agreement as i am unable to pay this amount every month due to rent, bills etc... any ideas about what i should do?

I have experience of HSBC. I was unable to pay back a student loan I had with them as The Midland Bank. They passed it to Metropolitan who agreed a payment schedule knocking interest and charges on the head. They were really OK. Be honest don't agree to pay more than what you know you are able. They will try for more but stick to your figure which you should know before contacting them. I started off really really low which enabled us to negotiate a higher figure.0
