listening and downloading radio programmes

I am just wondering if anyone could help me with downloading radio programmes.
I want to download radio programmes from the radio 4 websidte onto my pc to transfer to an ipod or a memory stick.
I don't just mean podcasts, but also programmes that are currently being played or ones that you can listen to for 7 days after.
Is this possible.
TIA

  • Hi,

I use audacity - once you have it downloaded you can get it to record while you play back the radio 4 programme back through listen again and once complete save it as an mp3. Its not quick, I grant you, but it does the trick for me!

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Dawna,

First thing we need to know is if your using a PC or a Mac ?

Second thing is that the BBC radio sites use whats known as a "streaming feed" for their shows, which you listen to using the RealPlayer plugin. What you need is a piece of software that records/hijacks this audio feed to a file on your computer in which ever format you choose (usually mp3, wav or aiff).

I personally use a Mac utilizing a piece of software called WireTap, but if you let us know platform you use I'm sure we can point you in the right direction.
