I'm also waiting but I owe them money. Nothing complicated about my income so does make you wonder why.

One possible explanation is that you have a source of income (for example bank interest) that hasn't been reported to HMRC yet, or reconciled by them against your account. While banks are expected to report interest by 30th June following the end of the tax year so that HMRC can calculate tax due by the end of October the deadlines are rarely met. I got my simple assessment for 2024/5 in early January 2026 so you're only a couple of months beyond that time.

Both myself and my wife had NOT had ours calculated. I phoned HMRC on 16 March regarding the wife's account because she has been ordered to start Self Assessment on the FY 26/27 and I knew she owed money and I didn't want her to start the FY with an amount owing from a previous year. I had kept meticulous records of what was owed to HMRC. I asked the agent if she knew what was owed and our figures agreed but I had calculated her state pension on the basis of 51 weeks at the new year rate and one week at the previous year. The difference was only a few pounds so I didn't challenge the figures. The lady created a bill and I logged on and paid it.
As a result HMRC produced three P2s for FY 26/27, two dated 16 March and one dated the 17th
