Good Friday trains
Sorry if this is a daft question, but do trains (and underground) normally run on a Good Friday? The main reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of going to see a musical in Wimbledon next year, and it's running over the Easter Weekend.
Many thanks

Yes, Unless there is engineering works
Come on you Irons1 -
According to RTT there are mainline trains passing through Wimbledon all day. You don't say where you will be starting your journey. The mainline west of Winchester seems to be closed however.

It'll be starting from Sudbury, Suffolk.

Well on that day there are hourly trains from Sudbury to Marks Tey. From there there appears to 2 trains per hour to Liverpool Street.
London Waterloo to Wimbledon has around 14 trains per hour.

Just done a test ticket request with a ticketing site. It says the above is fine, except it suggests getting off the second train at Stratford and then take the Jubilee Line to Waterloo.

OP is asking about Good Friday 2027! Are the engineering schedules up for that date already?

No, didn't spot the "next year" in the question!

No, major commissionings (if any) will already be in planning 3+ years in advance but timetables will not be confirmed yet.

Good Friday is a normal working day as far as the trains are concerned. Easter Monday will probably be a normal Saturday service. Engineering work apart from a few major schemes is not announced until three months before the time but you can assume there will be rail replacement buses.

I didn't expect train times up to a year in advance, to tell the truth, I'm just trying to forward think, if it would be easier to travel down on the Good Friday and stay overnight (and returning Sat), than travelling down on Saturday (and returning Easter Sunday). If I book the hotel in advance enough, I might be able to get the hotel cheaper.
