Hi there all, I'm currently helping my mum out with a similar situation she found herself in and found this thread. She received two letters one from Interum, saying resolvecall are now managing this supposed debt and one from Resolve call saying she owes a lot to a company called Northern Rock which I looked into is no longer FCA authorised.
I'm just wondering when using this letter do I send it to both companies or just Intrum or resolvecall. Many thanks

Hi,
Its always best to start a new thread when asking your question, as that thread was 2 years old.
Can you be more specific about the debt they are chasing, it looks as if Intrum have bought this debt and assigned it to Resolvecall to manage, was it a mortgage shortfall debt or something else?

Oh right sorry!
I'm still new to this platform and this forum was the closet thing I seen to an answer. When I spoke to my mum about it after she told, she was honest and said she go not idea. She did fall into some debt issues many years ago, but she was under a charity that helps you get out of debt and during there checks these guys never came up. So, it a bit of a confusing situation because she upset she cannot even remember borrowing such an amount.
I'm sorry that really I know to be honest, I could only think it could credit card debt but as said she sorted that out years ago, I believe.0 -
No worries, OK, when a debt collector writes asking for money for any debt, but especially one you do not recognise, you should never speak to them on the phone, and always ever only deal with them in writing.
They can`t just demand money without first providing evidence of your liability for that debt, that will usually be in the form of a credit agreement or similar, if they can`t provide that evidence, then they are stuffed, and that would be the end of the matter.
We have what we call a "prove-it letter" which specifically does not acknowledge the debt, but crucially asks them to supply evidence that you owe the money, this is what you respond with.
It can be found here:
Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter — MoneySavingExpert Forum
Edit the template letter to your specific circumstances, and send that to them in the post, then see what reply you get, post back if you require more advice.

Ok amazing, I already got the letters ready.
My only question left so far is do I send a letter to intrum or resolvecall or both companies.
Thank you so much for your help so far 🙏

As Resolvecall have been assigned as collector, send it to them, they will do one of two things, either:
pass the request to Intrum, as per guidelines,
or,
they will throw their toys out of the pram, and return the account to Intrum, as they will have no interest in your dispute, because they are not paid to handle disputes, just to recover the debt.
If they do that, then send it to Intrum if they contact you again.
