Going down for hotel breakfast, always a pleasure.
The show last night was excellent. Top improv guests too. Marcus Brigstock, Mike McShane (remember him?) and Fred Macaulay (fab Scottish comedian). It was very funny and very clever. I was in bed by 10 and fast asleep soon after.
My journey home starts at 9 so I should be home by shortly before 1. Take care all. Hugs all round.

Thanks for starting us off @Gers Enjoy your breakfast. Always more enjoyable when someone else has done all the cooking for you.
Lots of rain overnight but it's stopped now and should be dry for the rest of the day.
Off out shopping in a while. DH has filled a big pot with earth for me and I'm going to plant some potatoes in there. Not grown them in a pot before so looking forward to some nice salad potatoes in the future!
Nothing else planned.
Have a good day all x

Good morning, safe journey home Gers.
After the wind and torrential rain of yesterday, this morning is bright and sunny. Still breezy, but not as bad, and rain forecast later.
Nothing much planned for today, I got my to do list done yesterday morning, but I'm sure I'll find something that needs doing.
Chunky battered fish fingers, chips and mushy peas for tea, looking forward to it.
Have a good day all, take care.

Sunshine 🌞 which is lovely after yesterday’s awful wind and rain.
Had an awful afternoon at work which resulted in me being very annoyed and frustrated - fortunately picked up by a very good manager who wasn’t even in the room but clearly heard about the debacle, messaged ‘are you ok’ and I immediately felt better and that someone was actually listening!
Anyway, no work there today and a haircut which is well overdue. Hopefully there’ll be a decent dog walk and lots of chores that get done.
Best wishes to all those that need themAA

Morning all
Well I discovered this morning that I don't bounce! My heel skidded out from under me on a patch of mud and down I went. Fortunately landed more or lesson my bum but did twist my knee a bit. Felt like one of those poor woodlice on its back waving its feet in the air.😂 No real damage except to my dignity lol and a suspicion that I will get a bruise.
Finally got my delivery of shavings yesterday and the field was dry enough to drive across to the barn, so I didn't have to huff and puff with the wheelbarrow. Today would have been a different story, although the wind was wicked ( not as bad as some I know), and I'm glad I didn't have to battle that as well.
Been an odd few days weatherwise. I have seedlings that desperately need pricking out but I'm running out of room to put them anywhere as the greenhouse is full of pelargoniums in hanging baskets which have been over wintering. Need to give them a sort out too. I think a few have 'had it' 😕.
Went for a coffee and chat with an friend yesterday .The house overlooks the sea ( about 1km from the shore) and the view is mesmerising. I could have stayed all day!! They live just around the corner from Mrs M's childhood home so I was able to give them some of the backstory to where they live- it's an old farmhouse which has been split into several properties. Their bit is the old kitchen and lounge , which I had spent many hours in over the years. It's odd going into a place you have known for years and seeing it completely changed! The stableblock which had the original Victorian dividers with the cast iron grills etc has long gone-converted into a tiny little house- It must be quite claustrophobic as it wasn't massive by any means. Suppose it's progress of a kind.
Need to use up some manky bananas, so I think a cooking splurge is going to be on the cards.
Hugs and spoons as always. Safe travels and better health.

Morning everyone
Mam is still in the hospital, she has a new social worker who has asked the staff to record how she is overnight, I'm hoping she carries on packing her bag and trying to get out to go home…because that is one of our main concerns if she went back home, that she would try to get to dad. The social worker said she hopes to do her assessment on Monday or Friday next week. She is looking healthier after a good rest and proper food and we've been having lovely chats about her childhood, but she seems to have 'lost' most of the more recent past.
Dad was very tired yesterday after his hospital stay, but doing ok considering, he just wants to see my mam. I'll go down to see him this morning and mam this afternoon. I have a taxi booked to take me this morning as the wind is still wild, it's stopped raining now - yesterday I got wet twice.
Then I'm picking little one up after school, she's staying for football club, so she'll be an hour later than usual. She'll stay overnight, then a lazy morning tomorrow, I'm planning to have a day off visiting tomorrow, as my brother is coming to visit mam and dad - hopefully as he's the unreliable brother and could well message to say he's not coming. He's as much use as a chocolate fireguard as my dad would say, my older brother and I have been doing everything together.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Looks to be a nice day with no rain 🤞 just after I posted yesterday I got a text from the hospital cancelling my appointment they said they will contact me soon with another one, so I will continue waiting.
Off to get my nails done this morning and then I need to do a bit of housework and sort out the washing which is in the wm. OH did the tiles yesterday and they look brilliant- he is a man of many talents! We need to empty the tops of cupboards etc in the kitchen and take things off the walls ready for the painter.
Not sure what’s for dinner tonight but we have plenty in so we won’t starve.
Dogs to be walked later and then a rest this afternoon with a film.
Mehefin hope you are not too sore xx
Gers safe trip home xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all, thanks @Gers for today's start. Glad you enjoyed your evening, safe journey home.
It's still very windy here and the sun is out for now - more rain to come. Top temperatures are supposed to reach 8 deg but will feel more like 4 deg at best. It was a struggle walking in the wind yesterday and by the time I reached the Co-op I was huffing and puffing; the journey home was easier with the wind behind me plus it was downhill. Small shop done including YS bananas, crumpets and hot cross buns and a bunch of carnations, red ones this time.
DS's interview yesterday wasn't a one to one, more like a presentation to a group of about 20 people explaining what the job entailed, salary, hours, Q&As etc. Invitations for individual interviews are to be arranged for a later date but in the meantime he's still looking. Tbh, from what he told me about the job, I don't think this one is for him but we'll see - he might not even get a formal interview.
Nothing exciting happening today, just the usual activities aka weekly admin, daily tasks, next week's meal plan etc. Lemon & pepper coated fish for tea with mushy peas and chunky chips.
@AA - Sorry to hear your afternoon at work wasn't great, have a better non-work day today.
@mehefin - Hope your knee isn't too sore after your tumble.
@dp1 - Have a hug or two, you've a lot on your plate right now. I hope your mum's new SW is better than the previous one and that the chocolate fireguard brother steps up to the plate tomorrow so you and other brother can have a day off from running around.
@Ruby - Shame your hospital appointment was cancelled and fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long for another one.
Nothing else of interest so I'll wish everyone a good end of week day. Take care all, stay safe. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Hi everyone,
dp1, I have a brother like that, the eldest in my case, he very rarely visited. When dad was in his last few weeks I rang him and told him he had to come which he did for a couple of days (his wife didn't and didn't come to the funeral). When he arrived dad said "hello, who are you" and when he left he said "It was nice to meet you" - dad had all his mental acuity right to the end and a very sharp sense of humour. The same brother then caused a ruckus over mum's funeral (who he hadn't seen since dad's funeral 12 months before) because he wanted to make a speech. My youngest brother who had borne the bulk of the care with me was incandescent with rage, not surprisingly.
Gers, I'm glad you enjoyed your show, it sounds great. You'll be home by now, I hope it wasn't too blowy.
Izzy, I sometimes wait to see if Steve ever asks what we're having for dinner, he never does but I find it very frustrating that he doesn't come up with suggestions or if he does when asked it's invariably egg and chips!
Nate yesterday was very tired so we stayed in and played and watched TV with him. He was asking if it was bedtime at 3 pm! They'd been away with Crystal's family for her birthday and I think he'd become really tired.
Have a good day.
