Council Tax Renting
Hello!
My partner and myself are going to begin a new tenancy in April. We are considering paying council tax upfront to ease the monthly costs. If we move out of our tenancy before the year is up (i.e., Landlord wants to sell, we need to relocate) would we be entitled to a refund on the tax we have yet to use?

You dont get a discount for doing it this way, I would just put the money in an savings account and use it up through the year.

Although to answer your question yes you would get a refund.

The usual method of paying CT is by either 10 monthly or 12 monthly instalments. Paying "upfront" means the council will gain the benefit of any potential interest on the money.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
