Strange Discussion today with Santander
I called Santander today to ask questions re paying off my mortgage in full later this year and waive the early repayment fee (which I can due with inheritance money).
The conversion was straightforward right until the end. I said "thank you for answering my questions" to which he responded, "actually I have a question for you .... does the road Norton (not real name) Road mean anything to you?" To which I said no. I asked if there was anything I needed to be concerned about and he indicated not.
After I had hung up, I then remembered that I briefly lived in a flat on Norton Road in 2002 (no idea which number but the landlord was a friend of my sisters working for a housing charity). Needless to say, I called Santander straight back and told them. The man updated their records and again said it was nothing to worry about.
I can only guess I may have mentioned this old address on my original mortgage application in 2009 which was dealt with by the broker, although I have no recollection.
Any thoughts on this one? I took out my first mortgage on my house in 2009 and have renewed it twice with no questions like this. It was strange too as he didn't say it was a security question but just said he wanted to ask me the question.

A friend (who is an accountant) suggested that maybe the bank (or financial organisations) now have other issues with people in the same property, so it's flagged it up.
It's just a shock out of the blue as I lived there 24 years ago.

Maybe he was someone you knew when you lived there, and was just curious if you were the same person?
