I had the same in my youth 50yrs ago 😵💫 , automation then computers.
I said then that I should have trained as a plumber, electrician instead of getting certificates. So far AI physically can't fix stuff and with all the bright ideas business comes up with to sell us to buy, no ones come up with anything that works without going wrong.
Heck, after 30yrs a computer still can't tell you why it's refusing to work

If every company goes down tbe AI route then there won't be anyone able to afford their products, so they'll go bust

Yes. Its a massive bubble waiting to burst. Its not real AI its just predictive text and most are too costly to keep running.
Amazon were forcing their own software devs to use Amazon's own AI and had metric checks for it. If you didn't use it they'd look to push you out. So recently an engineer gave it a bug to help fix. It said "Fully wipe the current production code and just start again" so the engineer did and took Amazon down for severwl hours :)
The problem is with managers falling for the snake oil sales pitch. People will also screw themselves over. As I witness them saying "It writes my emails/reports for me". Eventually they'll start to loose those skills, move to a company that doesn't allow AI and realise they are lost.
OpenAI recently had to downgrade their spending as they are yet to actually make any profit.
There was one company that was using it for accounts with no one bothering to check. Until it came time to spending the profits that didn't exist. The AI has made them up. It made up numbers it thought the company wanted to see.
These vids are good at explaining the AI scam

Hold tight, get the popcorn out and watch for the bubble to burst. It can't come soon enough. We all want RAM and hard drive prices to go down to normal again.

It is not a bubble in the in the traditional sense, the investments are overvalued but there is and will be a long term use for AI and it will only get better. Those who have bet the farm on the value of AI companies will loose, but overall it will continue to be used, continue to become embedded in the business and continue to have more and more uses.
Some AIs are better than others, Anthropic's Claude is great at coding for example, apart from relatively simple tasks it does not replace human coders, but does make their work more efficient. I am no coder, but it has completed coding tasks for me very well. They were tasks that would have taken a coder half an hour to an hour, so not complicated, but it leaves the more complex tasks for the real skilled people.
The real useful AI models are not in use by the general public, they are gated behind subscriptions, enterprise setups, or being run indecently. As an example Gemma is a limited version of the Gemini model that one can run locally on suitable hardware, whilst Gemini can be quite good for some things Gemma generally outperforms it because one can turn off all the silly rules that the consumer models run, data analysis becomes much better because the model will not apply political correctness to the result for example, meaning more access to raw data. Another is that for a fully separate model it can be used for business use where GDPR would normally not permit the AI to work on the data, it also can have rules set it it, so it is not "black box", which can be an issue for reporting processes.
AI is not intelligent, they are either Large Language Models or analytical models, they cannot yet think. However one also has to remember that people are really just "meat computers", there is no inherit reason an AI cannot become properly intelligent in the future, we are just not there yet and the current models will never be, it will need new models, or possibly quantum computers.
