If you get Pension Credit as well, this will get reduced by 25 pence so you'll get an increase of zilch.
Don't spend it all at once!

And the extra 25p is taxable, whereas the lost pension credit wasn't.

And if the extra 25p/week takes you over the income limit for paying back your winter fuel payment ouch!

Really should be abolished along the Xmas 'bonus'. If it was index-linked since 1971, it would be a mighty… £3.19 per week. Not even enough for a proper cup of coffee down the shop!

Exactly. The admin costs of paying the Christmas bonus must be more than the actual payments - but imagine the complaints if it were to be abolished!

You'd never think we are a member of the G7 with this generosity, lol!
When my mum got this even she thought it should be scrapped to save the admin costs plus it would make you feel more valued as a citizen if it no longer existed.

that doesn’t sound right:
For 2026/27, the basic State Pension and new State Pension will increase by4.8% in line with earnings growth11
.
The individual basic State Pension rises by £8.45 per week (from £176.45
to £184.90) and the married rate (on one spouse’s contribution) rises by
£13.50 per week (from £282.15 to £295.65).
The full new State Pension rises by £11.05 per week (from £230.25 to
£241.30).

They are talking about the extra 25 pence for reaching the age of 80. It has been 25p for ever.
1 -
It has effectively been abolished as it isn't part of the new State Pension system.
Although the (non taxable) £10 Christmas bonus is still a thing with the new State Pension.
