Resolve Call/Cabot Letter

I am currently receiving letters for a historic credit card debt from 2008/9 and the debt balance I do not recognise - It appears it has grossly increased while being passed around.

It then went to court and I represented myself in a local sheriff court in 2015 with the help of a CAB lay representative due to not recognising the balance and inaccuracies/credit card payment protection product being applied for over a year after account closed/defaulted. The debt was also statute barred around this time and from memory when initially defaulted in 2008/9 but this was not applied until 2011 for some reason.

The case was sisted that day in 2015 and Cabot were advised to provide evidence and we heard nothing from them.

The lay representative team at CAB advised I ignore any further letters from them going forwards as they are fishing. I did receive the odd one every couple years after sisted but it was either another agency they passed it to or then back to Cabot. Generic call us letters. No contact made.

I started to receive 'Welcome to your new Cabot account' letters in December 2025 and constantly into January 2026. Emails have been constantly sent also and I have no idea how they managed to get my email.

I am now receiving joint letters from Cabot and Resolve Call advising a representative will be calling in 7 days. It has been over 16 years since the debt was defaulted due to disputing losing my job and affordability and not being able to claim the Credit Card payment protection at the time for respite.

This debt is no longer on any of my credit records and dropped off/statute barred back in 2015/16. I have had zero contact with them since 2015 when sisted. Even prior to that I had zero contact until they took it to court and I represented myself with CAB.

I do not think they are now even aware this was sisted and statute barred. (5 years Scotland)

I have been told to ignore them but just worried about what to do going forward. Do I issue a letter to them? I have good credit standing and have never had any other debt besides this dispute due to the principle of it.

The initial debt I believe from memory was around £1000.00.

Any help and input is greatly appreciated.
