They are a relatively small employer, but were taken over by a bigger company and since being taken over no-one seems to know who does what. I mean literally there are no contacts for payroll/HR etc. I did suggest that if he was ever overpaid wait until someone comes back to him as they surely would to try to get the money back. At least he would know where to go. I appreciate it sounds absurd nowadays, I couldn't believe it either until i saw his internal emails and the zero responses or responses saying this isn't the right place to query this, try elsewhere.

    Thanks.

Can I also echo the comment about being so responsible with pension savings at 25. Even putting away 100 per month at that age is a great start.

In reaching his decision about how much to put aside into a pension, has he taken a holistic view of his finances? Emergency fund of 3-6 months' expenditure? Other short-med terms savings for e.g. house, car?

As he won't be able to access the pension until he is 58, probably, he needs to ensure that he's not sacrificing short-med term needs too much.

Yes, he is very careful about this. Still, I will make sure he has the 3-6 months expenditure element! Cheers.

Then he is well ahead of the general curve - as i wish i had been able/willing to pay that much every month at that age
