Guys, avoid eBay and dodgy HK/China webshops if buying memory cards and USB sticks. That's where all the fake ones get sent.

Don't tarnish everyone with the same brush there are some good sellers out there, who sell proper branded items. I just bought a GENUINE fully boxed in original packaging Kingston Micro SD card - arrived quickly and works perfectly. That was bought from a UK Power seller.

Buy from some one with decent feedback and in the UK, and you should ahve no problems. Pay by Paypal and claim back if fake/ dodgy goods - and thats what negative feedback is for too.

When buying large flash drives, it's all about the speed. There are some dog slow drives out there, and those are not a deal at any cost. Make sure the drive you're getting is fast. If the drive in this topic is fast, then it sounds great.

You obviously know what you are talking about, so for those of us who don't...

whic spec are we looking for re speed? what is "fast"? how to compare and how can you test the speed of a drive (quantitatively)?

watch out if you're planning to give -ve feedback to a seller. Unscrupulous ones will retaliate in kind and then you'll have a battle with ebay to get your negative feedback removed. Serious flaw in ebay feedback system if you ask me, and the reason why when you see 97% feed back, the actual figure will be closer to 50%. - For every buyer who gives -ve feedback to a seller there will be another who didn't dare...

I only put in eBay feedback once the seller has added his. Once I've paid, there's not much more he can say. I nearly always pay immedoately. If he doesn't bother leaving me feedback, then he gets none from me.

btw I thought I read some time back that even memory which appears to be genuine, boxed etc may be fake. I tend to go with the cheapest I can get for day to day use. If it was for my camera I'd pay a bit more.

I bought 2x 16GB usb drives from "nouictrade06" on ebay. Both arrived this morning, quick transfer test and they are fake 2GB drives. Jumped straight on paypal but dont fancy my chances knowing paypal. Went through ebay to get contact details but no suprise phone number is fake, and name doesnt match that of paypal.

Strange how all his other buyers have given him positive feedback for the 16GB pen drives. At least let Ebay know if you have been sold fake goods.

You could ask previous buyers if their pen sticks work upto 8GB

If you're lucky, good for you but the advice still stands. AVOID THEM if possible!
