    Maybe this is a known issue at the company they they've already addressed with others. Maybe they don't want any adverse publicity. Maybe they just want to do the right thing.

    No one really knows until you try.

    You could make a whole bunch of assumptions and do nothing and guarantee a loss.

    Or you could pull your evidence together, contact the company and see what happens. No matter how small the chance, what have you got to lose?
