Although not explicitly stated I have gotten a CIFAS Marke (but I do want to keep that situation separate from this post), the good news here is that Halifax have only closed my account, but via formal complaint, I’ve been told I would be able to re-apply but obviously recommend the removal of the marker.

All depends on just what CIFAS marker it is.

If it's a fraud one then you won't be getting any new accounts for 6 years..

I understand why it’s being read that way, but I want to clarify something.

At the time, I did not believe I was knowingly participating in criminal activity. I was introduced to these individuals through a friend, and they initiated contact with me after being given my social media handle through this friend, without prior consultation. I was told it was linked to crypto transactions and account “warming” — which in hindsight clearly makes little sense, but at the time I didn’t properly understand what I was involving myself in.

That doesn’t make it sensible, and I accept it was naïve and reckless. I’m not trying to say I was tricked into doing something completely against my will. I made a poor decision.

What I’m pushing back on slightly is the suggestion that I knowingly agreed to facilitate something I understood to be criminal from the outset. That wasn’t my understanding at the time, even if it should have been a red flag.

That said, I appreciate the starting position is still that I gave access and therefore bear responsibility. My question remains about the procedural handling of the default rather than trying to deny my role in what happened.

I know what one it is Misuse Of Facilities, but for me it will last 3 years. But I’m in the midst of appealing it
