ACI Updraft
Evening all,
My Updraft loan still hasn’t defaulted despite missing 5 payments. I have received an Email from them saying…
As you are behind with payments and we have been unable to resolve this, we will be asking a debt collection agency, ACI, to contact you and help you bring your account up to date. If you are having difficulty making payments, please reach out to ACI as your balance is now being managed by them.
ACI have emailed asking me to set up a payment plan.
Do you think Updraft have actually sold the debt to ACI or if ACI are just collecting on Updrafts behalf?
Should I be setting up a payment plan with ACI?
Many thanks 😊

Can I ask if you gave up on the idea of bankruptcy? Because your debts are extremely large and it would be a simple solution, giving you a clear start

I'm not aware of ACI operating as just a collector, but that's how it reads. Keep an eye on your credit file and see what turns up.
Whether or not you should start paying ACI depends on your overall strategy

I’m still unsure what to do! Because I have put in 6 affordability complaints I was hoping if dome of them are upheld the debt might be reduced therefore I could do a DMP.
My partner is buying a flat & I will be moving in with him. I guess im concerned my bankruptcy might affect him in some way. Also I am back at work now earning £40,000 & I fear they will want me to pay back much of it.
What would you advise? Many thanks. 😊

I am still unsure of my strategy!
I to & fro between a self managed DMP & bankruptcy 🤦♀️

What is the progress on the affordability complaints?
Why not post a new Statement of Affairs, with the new salary. And say what you think your share of the bills may be when you move in?1 -

Three of the affordability complaints have been upheld however one has since been turned down at appeal. I have appealed that decision so we'll see! I've lost two but appealed one of them so waiting on response.
I've not heard from Updraft re affordability complaint since 17th October 2025 when they emailed to apologise for how long it was taking! I've tried emailing several addresses & still have had nothing back so might need to take this to the FO without an outcome from Updraft. I have three loans with Updraft totalling over £16,000.
Here is a new SOA. I've left all the loan payments on despite the fact I haven't paid any since September.

II think I'd make payments from maybe £500 of surplus, try to save £1000 per month into a fund for settlement deals keep going with the complaints and make use of cca requests before offering a lump sum.

I think that Updraft complain should go to the Financial Ombudsman now. You do not want to have missed a rejection from them and then find you have also missed the 6 month window to take this to FOS. If they have not replied, being told by FOS that you have sent the case in should make them respond!

This sounds like a good idea. Would you definitely choose a DMP over bankruptcy?
