    Thanks everyone for your replies.

I've done the land registry thing and as you've said, it's all there.

The thought of "where's my house deeds" just popped into my head this morning while walking my dog, so i'm pleased it's a lot clearer now.

Like they say, "every day's a school day!"

The same way you would have proved its yours halfway through the mortgage. Eg if you needed to prove ownership to a locksmith / police to gain access or sell / leave it as inheritance (you'd still be getting the proceeds less the mortgage balance).

Ans: from land registry where deeds are electronically registered.
