These companies no longer seem to be high street banks.
My local branch (used for half a century) shut with no fanfare.
I do have another branch 8 miles away but looking at these banking kill lists a lot of people don't.

Expected this as soon as they merged banking facilities across all 3. Surprised we're keeping the Lloyds AND Halifax where I live, & they're only 0.4 miles apart!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
The ones in the town near me are only three minutes walk from each other and they are both staying open.
It's amazing there are still so many open now that virtually nobody uses them.

There are all sorts of reasons why it might not be pragmatic to close everything all at once.
I suspect there exists a list somewhere with far more branches which will close in the next 3-5 years, no doubt with the lease expiration and/or market valuation noted against each, as well as running cost.

When all these bank branches are gone (for all banks), I suspect there will be a small gap in the market for someone to operate on the high street. Clearly at a cost, but I would sign up.

I don't think they will all go. I would suspect one each from Natwest Group, LBG, Barclays, Santander and HSBC to remain in the principal cities.
Nationwide have been making a song and dance about not closing any branches for years now and have quite recently extended that promise to include places Virgin Money currently operate and until 2030. Of course they will eventually remove the duplication which must cover two thirds or so of the VM branch network. It wouldn't surprise me if they eventually expand our in to some larger towns they don't yet have a presence in.

Same with us, literally three minutes walk between the Lloyds and Halifax branches.

Depends what you mean by 'someone' but if it was profitable to operate high street branches, these banks would continue to do so….

It would not be profitable really, hence the "at a cost".

We have the banking hubs, I suspect it will all go to them.
