MSE Forum Poll: Does a clothing shop having a changing room make you more likely to visit?
Buying clothes online is quick and easy, but there's something to be said for browsing in real life. While most stores tend to have a place to try things on before you buy, is having a fitting room a big issue for you?

There isn't a highly unlikely to go in a shop with no changing room.
I want to know I have something that fits and looks good on me. One trip, job done and dusted.
I don't want to guess , pfaff around at home and have another trip and queue to return.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

When clothes shopping instore, I always try things on. Even if I already have the same item and am buying another in a different colour. Reason for this - I have noticed that occassionally different coloured fabrics seem to fit better than others, despite the size and style being exactly the same. Odd I know! The other reason why I try things on, is to spot any faults in the stitching, zips etc and if there are any "scratchy bits" inside the item I picked up.
I do shop online with retailers who have an effortless, streamlined free return process. I just cannot be bothered with the logistical hassle of not trying on instore and then having to go back if the item is not right.

Quality is so poor these days that even two pairs of the same item can fit differently. I had trousers in M&S before where there's been almost 2 inches difference in the waist measurement in two 'identical' pairs of trousers.
I now won't buy clothes unless I've tried them on first, even in a charity shop.

If a shop has nice, roomy, pleasant changing rooms I am a lot more likely to make a purchase that I'm really happy with. I'm not sure how many shops play the long game like that nowadays though.

I'm quite happy buying most things online but when it comes to clothes I always prefer going to a shop with a fitting room. It's so much easier being able to pick up a few different things and see how they feel than try and guess what the right size is and have the hassle of returning anything I'm not happy with.

Thank you, I bought two pairs of black jeans from M & S .. thinking they would both fit the same. Not just me then.

With no changing rooms there is one thing for sure......the shop will get far more returns/refunds to deal with.

Aside from coats and jackets I tend not to try things on instore. I know my size and what suits me and am past wearing tight-fitting clothes so that is generally not an issue.
I cannot remember when I last bought anything brand new, and if I were to, nothing could compel me to change behind a flimsy curtain unless it was properly segregated by wall and gender behind a monitored changing room.

It might be where they cut the cloth to use the most cloth, rather than cutting it so they get the same cut every time.
