We took out a small B&Q account with Creation to buy a bathroom on 0% finance. We were given a £4500 limit but spent around £1000. We've been paying it off for around six months so six to go. This is fine, we can do it no problem.

However we have a little spare mid January so I paid off a bit more, it offered me the choice of decreasing per month amount or loan length. I chose decrease payment amount. But the end of January they took the original amount. I thought - OK maybe I'd missed the cut off or done something wrong.

So at the end of January I paid another £10 off to see what happened and was offered either option again, again I chose decrease payments and it gave me the monthly figure. I've emailed twice and got a "we will look into this and be in touch" and tried to call but I was stuck on hold for ages.

Today I've had this month's statement telling me what my payment will be at the end of February and it's my original payment again.

Anyone had same problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Irritating, but if its on 0% finance, does this really matter?

Yes because temporarily less going out per month would be helpful.

Have you contacted them to ask?

Could it be as simple as it is 0% that so long as it is cleared by the due date, that there is no actual fixed monthly payment?

I've been trying to contact them. They've been taking a set amount around £105 every month. The payments should have dropped to £68 so a reasonable difference.

I'll keep trying to get through I guess.

How is the payment being taken?

Did you set up a Standing Order?
