Wow thanks queenie thats a great programme, just what i need. thank you.
You're very welcome - it's one of the reasons I came back posting on here yesterday, just had to share. :rotfl: It's free, it's a shopping list program and it's going to be a useful tool for those doing the PMS Challenge and the Grocery Challenge - not to mention those Debt Free Wannabe's who are counting every penny, thrice!

The only drawback I've found so far (aside from those people who are disappointed it doesn't work for Linus or MAC) is that you are restricted to how many characters you can use in the description. So, I have used very basic AS for Asda; S for Sainsbury's; T for Tesco; A for Aldi; L for Lidl and C for Co-op as a code for which shop has that particular item at such and such a price.

I have a recipe box program too (which I had to pay for) which also produces a shopping list based on the recipes chosen for the menu plan. But, it didn't give me prices; working the two in tandem is how I'm using them to keep me on the ball and organised :D

  • Really great programme, many thanks.

I agree that the list already included isn't very os; would someone be willing to share their list once they've made it more old style?

    Best wishes

Yes, you do need to set aside some uninterrupted time to invest in setting it up to your own personal shopping needs/prices/requirements.

I had to do a shop at Mr T's yesterday, so I need to spend a little time today making additions and refixing some of the prices I'd guesstimated when I first set it up.

Have fun with it lil_me :D

Have you managed to get to grips with this one yet? I havent even got around to opening it really, been a bit busy and not too well the last few days. If youve already sorted it fine. If not. I will get around to it. ASAP

Ok I have been looking at this one. It will be a bit time consuming for me to alter and edit it all to suit money saving. I am wondering if downloading it and then deleting most of the items on it, and then adding them as you shop, ie from a tesco delivery list, or your shopping receipt might be more suitable to people. But I can try and still alter it, then see if I can get to others.? Be long winded though.? Maybe a technical person could do it quicker. But it will be handy to do, once its set up.

I do agree, it is a bit time consuming and yes, I too have utilised past receipts to input the stuff *I* buy and delete the bits I don't. Just like most organisational tools (and many things worth their salt ;) ) the idea is you are "investing" time so that, from then on, it is adapted to your personal requirements. :D

Money_Maker_Shaker - the whole point of the program is to adapt it to *your* personal circumstances. Every family has differing needs/requirements depending on capacity, budget, dietary needs, food preferences, ages and stages etc., so it would be extremely difficult (and very subjective) to provide a "one size fits all" print out of a basics shopping list a la OS ;) For example: I am OS (always have been) yet, numbers I've needed to cater for have varied from 9 at their maximum (2 adults, 5 teens, 2 under 2)down to 3 to date (1 adult, 1 teen, 1 boardering teen). That emcompasses quite a range. By the same token, throughout those varying circumstances, income has fluctuated, some dietary needs have subsequently been highlighted - which has to be adjusted to and so on and so forth.

It would be great if we were all the same and 'one size fit all'; sadly that is not the case. If you only had 10mins per evening to spare on adapting the program to suit your own needs/family/requirements, at the end of one week you will have 70 mins of time invested in saving you money and, in the long run, spending copious amounts of time writing out shopping lists - this will have it all available at the touch of a button once it is tweaked to your standards/needs. Maybe it's a case that your circumstances are identical to say, Mooloo; but that's less than likely. Handy, for sure! But, not likely. An investment of your time will never be wasted time if it nets you a profit ;)

Yes its a mamouth task, think I agree there, its too personalised if you want to get it to suit you. But a brilliant tool when you get it set up right.
