Supermarkets refusing manufacturers coupons
Has anyone else found it almost impossible to spend manufacturer issued coupons in supermarkets over the last few months? I’m a firm believer in writing in to product manufacturers whenever something isn’t right with a product, and most of the time you get a letter of apology with some coupons for money off your next purchase. Recently I’ve had coupons from Nando’s sauces and also Guinness for faulty products, which have been impossible to spend. They don’t scan at self service checkouts, manned checkouts refuse them and even the customer service tills have refused them because “computer says no”.
I’ve had this at Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s and it’s infuriating, embarrassing and causes delays for all concerned. Has anyone else noticed this? Any advice for actually successfully spending a coupon these days?!
