Criminal injuries...should I get a lawyer
I got attacked before xmas by a young lad..as I went in my flats..resulting in a broken ankle needing surgery..screws and pins..(I'm nearly 60)…the guy pleaded guilty…I made the initial claim online...been sent a follow up form..which I will fill in…how do I know what reasonable offer is ? Realise may take at least 12 months…do I get a solicitor on a % basis.. I am reaching out to suggested charities for support..i.e day one trauma…trauma wellbeing matters…as my income will eventually fall...if it takes too long to start working again…thanks

if your claim doesn't have mental health injury of loss of earnings you can do it yourself. I applied myself and only got a solicitor involved when they made me an offer ignoring my mental injury and gave no loss of earnings
You can look at the tariffs here. But I am NOT recommending this solicitor only providing link because it has award calculator2026 wins…

I hope you are getting over this ordeal.
You haven't mentioned it but you don't have to is do you have a criminal record as they don't payout or payout a lot less the non criminal claiment.
My dad's neighbour whom he knew from school was a victim of assault when some people tried to steal hisand was beaten up and spent over a week in ICU.
He had criminal record from when he was 18 and he was 70 when attacked and he never got anything due to that.
I hope you get compensation though.

If you're a Unison member, can their legal department help with this?
