Debtless
I had a joint acc with d/h and took my name off it a wk before b/c but still had my wages paid into it. No o/d ect as it was a basic acc(hoping to do IVA)it is still up and running but the savings acc with £24 in it has been frozen, same bank ect but because my name was on it, it has been frozen(the OR did say he had not interest in it) the bank have said we can still pay in!(not paid anything in for about 5yrs.lol)but can not take anything out until the OR has notified them that he has no interest in it. So it's up to you. We took the risk as we had set up all new d/d in anticipation of doing an IVA and did not want to go through all that rigmorole again. It paid off but others may have different stories to tell. Good luck.DalipFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

a lot of good advice thanks to everyone, will get my forms next week and start filling in, thinking of going BR in march.
the only thing worrying me is the car aspect as there is know way we can live without it due to our location (small village not on a bus route) so could people who have gone BR and kept their cars let me know what happened.
if the OR says i can't have the car am i allowed to get a 3rd party to pay the OR for it.
i have read the cars are auctioned they must also be valued what system do the y use to value the car?
if i am not allowed to buy the car back if not allowed to keep it and they give me money to buy another car how long does this take since i won't be able to work.
on a seperate note i currently earn around £220 a week after tax and NI we get child benefit £18 , child tax credit £46, housing benefit £60 , council tax benefit £5, working tax credit £16, a week will i be able to claim court costs £150 ? what are the chances of an IPA ?0 -

Just explain all thison the forms and explain the difficulties you would have getting to work, school, shops, doctors etc. Possibly provide bus timetable to show lack of service
if the OR says i can't have the car am i allowed to get a 3rd party to pay the OR for it. Yes you are.
i have read the cars are auctioned they must also be valued what system do the y use to value the car? The OR usually uses Parkers or you could get 2 independant garages to value it for a quick sale.
if i am not allowed to buy the car back if not allowed to keep it and they give me money to buy another car how long does this take since i won't be able to work. How long is a piece of string

You might be able to get a reduction in court costs( will find a link) If you want to pop up your I&E we can give you more of an idea if you would get an IPA. CHB and CTC are not included in the calcilation.

collect my forms next tuesday, should i book a date then even though i haven't got the money to pay yet? how long do you think my creditors will last before action if i don't contact them?
also i am slightly behind with my rent only £200 at most will this cause any problems with BR?0 -
I would urgently try and find the £200 rent arrears. I think the OR may ask about this and if you are in arrears he may contact the landlord (just things I've heard on here). You've got ages before creditors get nasty. You will probably get letters and phone calls and although its a nuisance they won't take serious action for several months. I wouldn't book a date for BR until I knew I would have the money. I'd first of all pay rent arrears then save BR fees.

Yup! I second that FYP. Get those arrears paid off first if you can.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
