Can you use a PO Box for banks

just wondering if I got a PO Box whether banks would allow this as a mailing address, or whether they need a physical address? Just trying to reduce the volume of letters coming to home address.

You could get a redirection to a PO Box but I guess it would send all your non debt letters there too.

I've never seen this service before, they seem to open your post and scan it page by page so you can receive it electronically anywhere in the world!

  • I use UK Postbox (the service linked here). I have lived overseas for 12 years and have no intention to return the the UK. But I still want to have a UK bank account for obvious reasons. So i use this service.

I started using the service when I ran my debts to default and all my mail was going to my Dad's house. Now, Cabot send scores letters a month to my UK Postbox address instead, so my Dad doesn't get spammed. Works well. They do indeed scan your mail and you can see it all. I want to keep an eye on the Cabot /Debt collector letters just in case it ever turns into CCJ etc.

They do occasionally send a letter to my Dad's gaff as i am not responding to any of their letters. But I just give them a GDPR reminder and they revert to wasting their time mailing my UK Postbox again for a few months.

The service is good, you can either pay a flat subscription fee per month (if you get a lot of letters, this is better), or you can pay 'by the letter' if you don't get too much. They also have a variety of addresses you can choose from - they are 'street addresses' rather than a 'PO BOX'.

Brilliant first hand experience. Thank you for sharing. Certainly food for thought further down the line when/if I'm renting and started my defaults having sold this house to have a steady address for correspondence

Yes I would only want to use it for my defaulting creditors :-)
