Tesco Price Rises

I only buy a few items from Tesco as I shop mainly at Lidl, but noticed last week price rises on some items I buy every week. Then on another forum I see someone else mentioned it. Perhaps they hope that shoppers don't notice it.

I wonder what has driven the price rise, a deliberate strategy every six months, or their latest results showing a miniscule drop in their (huge) profits?

Anyone else notice this?

This will mean an rise in monthly inflation, not helped by STWA now charging me £43 a month instead of £30 a months due to their price increases. And we have the joys of council tax increases to look forward to …

I notice price rises anywhere I shop. Habit of checking.

Things go up, it is not some conspiracy by Tesco to increase inflation.

I don't shop at Tesco, but there are price rises everywhere. There may be some profiteering, but with climate change, floods, droughts, diseases, wars etc. there are also plenty of external reasons for price rises.

we shop at Waitrose as it’s very close to home. Every other supermarket is between 16 and 22 miles return

I have noticed that a £40-£50 shop is now nearer £60.

How much are those products at the other major supermarkets? Are you saying that Tesco is putting up prices and charging more than the other supermarkets for the same products?

The major supermarkets are usually super-competitive on pricing, and don't want to be seen to be more expensive than their competitors. Hence the 'price match' promotions.
