Recommend trainers for weight training
I've been going to weightlifting and CrossFit for a year. I replaced my old trainers with some from Lidl thinking it wouldn't matter but I think it threw out my (already dodgy) hip.
What do people recommend I try

Nike Metcon are one of the leading trainers for versatile gym resistance and cardio work. You will need to use the lace lock to prevent the laces coming undone in concentrated cardio such as treadmill.
You should also consider Puma Nitro which are specifically developed for HYROX but would again be very suitable for the activities you prefer.
Take time to try the trainers in a proper store and be sure to get the correct fit with space for toes to expand and move.

Thanks. We have a JB sports in town I think, and maybe a sports direct. I'll try there

If you are considering the Puma option, it is worth spending some time on the Puma website before you head to the shops as the "Nitro" is a range of several types of trainer with varying emphasis on running versus gym resistance activities. You want to be looking at the parts of the range with HYROX in the model name for the more weightlifting focused activities.
It is just, when you go to a typical High Street store, they may not have staff that really understand the difference and you might be pointed to just what they have in stock, particularly if you are served by weekend staff.
If you compare the Nike Metcon versus Nike Vomero / ZoomFly / VaporFly you will be able to see the difference between gym trainers for weightlifting and running trainers. The latter will not give you sufficient support or stability for weightlifting.

Thanks for your advice. I went to my nearest sports shop s and I see what you mean . The staff directed me to the website! They did have met con 9 which I tried on but they were very uncomfortable.
More research I think.

That sounds like pretty poor service TBH - unfortunately it is not uncommon that the staff in the large chain stores (even though they purport to be specialist sports retailers) do not really have the knowledge, time or inclination to actually support and guide a customer wanting advice.
The Nike Metcon are probably the market leader but, obviously, will not fit well for everyone.
Did you manage to try the Puma HYROX Nitro?
Another couple of options that might be worth considering are the Reebok Nano and the Adidas Dropset trainers.
I should mention, when choosing trainers, the price of the exact same shoe can vary significantly depending upon the colour choice. That might be important to some people to have the "Stella McCartney" version (or whichever other personality the brand has aligned with) but the MSE choice would be to just buy the cheapest colour. The cheapest colour is not always as prominent on the website so you may need to scroll down or follow through a few extra clicks.
All of the more gym-focused trainers will feel substantially different to your Lidl trainers so you may need to try a size up or down from what you expect. Expect that the trainers will feel firmer and stiffer, but they will also give more support. It may take some getting used to.
You may need to find a town with a very large (but independent) multi-brand store or visit actual brand stores for Nike, Puma, Adidas, Reebok and walk around the stores separately to find the best trainer for you (and store assistants with some more activity-focused knowledge to advise). Alternatively, are you able to visit a large Outlet Centre where you can visit the various brand stores?
Obviously I don't know where you are in the country but Gunwharf Quays (Portsmouth), for example, has Nike, Puma and Adidas (which covers three of my four recommendations) plus Asics, New Balance, and Under Armour. I would expect, if you can access somewhere similar, you would be able to find a good and comfortable training shoe to meet your desires.
