Who to notify?..... DC coupled retrofit battery

I have a 10kWh Growatt hybrid inverter with an 11.44 solar array on 3ph. Export is restricted to 10kWh.on G98.

If I add 20kW of DC coupled battery storage, do I need to notify  / seek DNO approval?

Export is controlled by the existing inverter and batteries are on DC side so any export is controlled to agreed limit.

Hiya. Your DNO approval will be per the inverter, both its output (agreed when installed) and the certofication of the inverter for UK grid connection.

So ….. as the batts are behind the inverter, the DNO won't need approval nor (I believe) notification.

But, if you check the DNO website, they should have clarification on this, and you should be able to ring/e-mail them to ask, though the response may depend/vary on the person responding.
