If they are in a 'lifestyle' strategy you should consider whether, when and to what extent you want to buy an annuity as if the answer is 'no', 'a long time ahead' to the first two questions, you might not want to be in that strategy. 'Lifestyle' is a horrible term that just means that your pension fund switches towards holding more in bonds as you get closer to retirement….and while it makes sense in theory for that, it might not be the best strategy if you don't want to buy an annuity with all or most of your fund.

Around the start of this decade ( probably before Covid hit) there were quite a few posters on these forums, saying the previous decade ( 2010 to 2019) had produced such good investment returns, that they were expecting this decade to be more subdued. So far that has not been the case and the bull run has been running for more like 15 years than 5, with a few wobbles along the way of course.

  • Totally agree. I see a demographics driven cyclical crash in 2035-2040, bring the US bull to an end. So i'm a perma-bull as money printing, and AI, and greater access to money markets for the average person, and buybacks will continue to push prices higher for a good decade yet.

The warnings are starting to flash, private equity debt, AI investment (if i decide to invest £100 bn in you, and you invest £100bn in me, are we both worth £100 bn now?), a couple more things in the pot are needed, and a strong blow off top from a black swan, but people are pessimistic right now , so it'll take a good decade to get there.

The stock markets always good until it isnt. This bulls got a long way to run yet. I reckon anyone under 37 is going to make bank off the next crash if they can muster enough courage, and cash to go large during it.

Sadly i wont make it to the next bull but this one since the financial crash has been decent enough to make everyone happy.
