There are special rules for a temporary place of work. These used to be generous but interpretations have tightened up over time.

Its when its known its going to hit 2 years rather than when its actually 2 years. Secondly "location" interpretation has been challenged more in recent years… in the old days in my world we had contractors in the London Market jumping between clients on Leadenhall, Gracechurch St and Fenchurch claiming each location was a new temporary workplace given their contract would be 12-18 months before moving to the next client. HMRC these days will say thats all within the City of London and so should be considered a continuous place of work and the fact you've moved 3 buildings down the road doesnt reset the clock.

Whilst I agree, my work changed it some years ago that they expected travel to be calculated from your permanent place of work and not home.
So in this case, you couldn't claim.0
