late salary payments what would you do?

i have been working in a senior management role for a company for 7 months. every month salaries have been paid late. always a similar excuse that there accounts suffered a cyber attack and that access has been limited etc. this time it’s been the worse. nobody has been paid their december salary which was due on the 31st dec. communication is via text and not formal letters. i have also discovered my pension has been deducted for 5 months but no contribution is showing. i understand it’s against the law but i have had trust in the company as eventually i have been paid. as you can imagine moral is shocking. what you do? obviously i have prepared my cv and am looking around. have you been in this situation? in all my 35 years of working i have never experienced this. thank you

Think you are absolutely right - get that CV polished and good to go. No employer who is financially stable would allow payroll to be delayed.

Have you checked that tax/NI deducted as PAYE has been passed to HMRC?

Deductions made from pay have to be with HMRC/pension companies by the 22nd of the month following deduction, or penalties can be levied.

as you are in a senior role is there someone you can talk to?  to express your concerns?

frankly the idea that there was a cyber attack that only effected payroll seems hard to believe and it sounds like the company is in trouble and someone is fiddling the books to keep things afloat.

I think you are right to be prepping for a departure.  Have you been there long enough to get some sort of payout for redundancy if the company shuts down?

    Indeed.
I worked somewhere that the payroll was a day late in clearing for some genuine error that occurred - money should have been landed in accounts on a Friday and it actually landed on Monday.  The company were so excessively apologetic and the MD even offered to draw his own money and lend to anyone that would be adversely affected over the weekend.

What would I do? I'd be talking to someone about this - and standing my ground until I got a satisfactory response. You say you're in a senior management role, so now would be your moment to demonstrate your management ability.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Why do you think HMRC would (should) disclose that information to an employee?

The most the op can hope for is to see evidence, on their Personal Tax Account, that the payroll data has been reported to HMRC.

Information about payment of the tax and NI is confidential between the employer and HMRC.

Yes, poor wording on my part - I meant, as you say,  that the Personal Tax Account can be checked to see if the payroll data has been reported.
