I hope this is the right board for it. Someone just pressed a flyer into my hand which reads as follows:
London's first light bulb amnesty brought to you by the Mayor of London, British Gas and B&Q.
From 11 - 13 January visit any London B&Q store to trade in a traditional light bulb for a FREE long lasting, energy efficient bulb.
For more information and to find your nearest B&Q store, visit http://www.london.gov.uk/lightbulbs/ or text "bulb" followed by your full postcode to 62967. This offer does not include fluorescent strip lights and is limited to 2 light bulbs per household - while stocks last. Texts cost your standard mobile rate. And on the back of the flyer is some blurb about save up to £60, save the planet and keep saving money and Co2 by calling the Mayor's Green Homes service on 0800 512012 for advice.

Oh my goodness, I made it in the weekly email again! Anyway, there is an A4 advertising page on page 6 of the Metro (London issue) today about this, and I have seen it mentioned briefly in the other free London papers the other day. I know that there are ways of getting energy efficient light bulbs for free, but I might send hubby on Friday to exchange 2 bulbs, as it does not mention that the traditional bulbs need to be unused - in actual fact, they say "old, inefficient and traditional". So don't throw your burnt-out ones out - trade them in!Reclaimed thanks to this site:

We went to the big B&Q in Greenwich near the O2 and they had a stand near the entrance where they were handing the bulbs out. We had to fill in a small card with name and address (make sure not to tick any boxes if you don't want to get advertising), and were given 2 60W energy efficient bulbs in exchange for our cheap old ASDA 40W bulbs. Good deal I thought, and don't forget that you can apparently get some free bulbs with a voucher from The Sun next Saturday! The Sun costs 55p on Saturdays, so not a bad deal either.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
