First Time Buyer - First Direct

Hi

Has anyone as  a first time buyer used First Direct for their mortgage and if so how smooth and timely was the process?

I am doing it right now. I am also a client of FD (I have their current account and regular saver) so potentially it was easier for me since they had my data (I don't hold large balances with them, prefer to move my money around between interest paying accounts but obviously they saw no issue there).

The availability of mortgage advisors for the calls I found generally good, when I had to review the price and also ask for a better rate that was done quickly. I had to wait about a week for the official offer after I applied.

What I did find a bit strange was that the "application" (ie the moment that leaves a hard search on your credit history) happens BEFORE you have the advisor call to determine the best deal for you. But it was no big deal in the end.

My mortgage advisor was nice and I found the calls pleasant if a bit long.

I am about to exchange so can't comment on the process beyond that yet.

Yes I was a first time buyer through FD for mortgage. Super efficient process. I was a brand new customer to them as well. I’ve been really happy with them for mortgage and current account needs ever since.
