Thanks in advance

Was it How To Feed You Family on £5 a Day by Bernadine Lawrence ?
It is out of print now but you may be able to get a second-hand copy from Amazon or AbeBooks.
I love it -very simple recipes and a very simple family diet. Homemade wholemeal bread, oats, pulses, vegetables, hm yogurt, cheap oily fish like mackerel and herring, not much meat, brown rice and pasta and lots of spuds. There are very few sweet recipes. Once I've eaten down my storecupboard I'm giving this sort of diet a go (I use the word 'diet' not in the weight-loss sense). I think it sounds healthy, frugal and uncluttered with trendy ingredients
There are 4 weekly menu plans in the book for breakfast, lunches and dinners which I find very useful.0 -
A lot of books have been recommended on here The More for Less Cook Book it is American, & very frugal someone will be able to tell you the authors correct name it's Doris Jansen, os something similar, also Margeurite Patten did a lot of war time recipes. My current favourite is How to feed your family a balanced diet etc, I can't remember the author, I'll go & have a look for it & come back & tell you
