Health/wellness club subscription

I'm thinking of signing up to a local leisure centre that has gym, pool, sauna. I like to run 3-4 times a week but also want to do some upper body as well and think swimming may be a good option? I also like the sauna and or steam room.
If used frequently can a subscription be a good investment, as its healthy and could be like a second home, use the shower etc.
Also am I l right that swimming as well as running is a good thing or should I also think about gym weight machines.

Swimming is good but strength training is very important too especially for people to maintain their health as they get older. Free weights will be fine or if very new then bodyweight is fine to start with too.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time1 -
Swimming is an excellent all round exercise, but as a runner you may benefit more from a mix of swimming, strength training, mobility and recovery work. I’d highly recommend taking up the offer of an induction at the leisure centre if possible. You’d be asked about your goals and what exercise you do now, and they’ll talk you through how to use all the equipment that will help you train safely and appropriately.
You’ll probably find that your leisure centre offers a mix of classes that would work for you. I’m not the keenest swimmer but I supplement my running with a Pump or Lift class (weights), some Pilates/Yoga classes and a class that focuses on balance, stretching and mobilisation, and a couple of Spin (bike) classes a week.
