Amazon Prime Subscriptions

I just discovered I have a ghost Amazon Prime account which has been inactive since 2018 but I have been paying for it, alongside my current subscription. Amazon says I authorised the payments so it was my ressponsibility to cancel with my bank when the new subscription started. This was clearly an error - I only need one subcription, and I have only been using one account.  Amazon's policy is only to refund 12 months, regardless of the circumtances . This doen't seem fair.

Presumably a post to remind people to check their bank accounts more than once every 7 years?

You are free to hold as many subscriptions as you want. It's not for amazon to question why you want more than one subscription. At present there is no requirement, other than for certain regulated industries, for firms to remind you that you have a rolling contract at any time.

I'd say their goodwill gesture is fair.

FOS rules that any fraud/disputes only get 13 months back.
So Amazon refunding 12 months off their own bat is very good.
