    UPDATE

I haven’t heard anything more from creation since my orginal post.

I have received a letter today from Admiral for another loan saying my account in now in default. It follows on to say the below:

To support you, your details will soon be shared with a Debt Collection Agency. Someone from their team will contact you in the next couple of weeks to talk through your situation and arrange an affordable payment plan that works for you.
While you're working with them, you might still receive some communications from us on occasion.
It's important to know that while your agreement is being managed by the Debt Collection Agency, we won't be able to set up a payment plan with you directly.

Does this mean they have sold the debt on now or that they have hired a debt collection agency to work on their behalf?

Should I set a payment plan up with whoever contact me or continue to ignore?

    Thanks

I have today received an email from Lendable regarding one of my loans which reads as follows:

“If you continue to miss payments we may instruct our representatives to visit you at your home address to reconnect with you and make sure everything's ok.”

This loan has not defaulted and I have missed 3 payments is this just a scare tactic being used??

Best advice is don`t jump at every shadow, its called collection activity for a reason, they want to get you repaying your debts as quickly and as cheaply (for them) as possible.

So you will get collection letters, or in this case an email, promising everything from cheap settlement to people knocking on your door, you have to expect this, to use a golfing term, "its par for the course".

To answer some of your last questions, if a debt is sold, you will be notified in writing, it will say its been sold, otherwise the collector is just assigned the debt on a collection only basis, and is just acting on behalf of their client.

The clue is in the terminology used.

Home visits, some companies have their own "in house" people, or they may use a 3rd party such as Verify or Resolvecall or similar, they are just engaged to encourage you to contact your lender, they have no more power than the postman, you do not have to deal with them, you can say no, go away, don`t answer the door, film them, whatever floats your boat, they are of no real consequence in this matter, and again is just another step on the road to defaulting your account.

Emails/texts/phone calls can all be ignored, in law, if they want to send you a statutory notice (letter that has consequences potentially) it must come in the post, all else is meaningless twaddle.

    UPDATE,

Today I have received the following email from CRS. First I have heard from them…

    Notification of Debt Recovery Instruction

Your balance of £****** has been passed to CRS by our client
Admiral Financial Services Ltd for debt recovery.

Please contact us as soon as possible to agree a payment arrangement or to discuss the balance in more detail.

Can I continue to ignore this company or is this the time I should start paying them?

I am under the impression that CRS are just working on behalf of admiral & the debt hasn’t been bought by them?

Yes, the key words are "our client", the rest you can just ignore.

Eventually they will get bored and return the account to Admiral, who will then likely have another go with a different DCA, or they may cut their losses and simply sell it.

Like I said in my previous post, the clue is in the terminology used.
