Self Assessment - GovGateway ID says not used in 3-years

Hi,

The last time I required to logon to to HMRC GovGateway was 3-years ago. Fast forward and I went to logon to submit my return for 2024-2025, but when I logon I get below error.

We have deleted this user ID and password. This is to protect you against malicious or fraudulent attempts to access your details.

It could be because your details have not been used for 3 years or more or it could be for another reason.

You will need to sign in using a different user ID and password, or you can create new sign-in details.

Yesterday (12/01/2026), I re-registered and now I have a new GovGateway ID BUT it now says ill get confirmation with registration AND then further confirmation of Unique Tax Reference (UTR).

Im now really really worried because it's too tight for submitting by 31/01/2026 deadline.

Can anyone tell me what happens in this situation?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Frank
