One in five councils in Eng/Wal getting it wrong on Council Tax Carers Discount
Comments

The discount discussed in this thread only applies to people with a severe mental impairment/severe learning disability ( and their carers). As well as the benefits the person receives ( usually the maximum PIP/DLA) a letter from the GP and/or social services would normally be needed.

The council tax system works on how many people are in a household.
Two or more - pay 100%
One - pay 75%
None - pay 50%
Slightly out of date, empty property is now 100% and can be 200% after a year
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
That is correct, but certain people can be 'disregarded for council tax '
So if you have two people, but one is disregarded, you only pay 75%, for example.
