Hi! So I’m really hoping for any help support and advice. I have found myself in 30k debt no job single mom

this time last year I had job, career sone debt but manageable

My mortgage is up for renewal at the end of the year and I’m hoping to get a job by then as I really also want to move.

Moving will be a possibility with a job and less debt.

The job market is sooo tough I’ve a few interviews over coming weeks but to be honest just the transition to minimum wage from highly paid is making things impossible let alone giving me any opportunity to earn extra.

I never thought this would happen to me and I feel a great deal of shame and guilt and every time I take a step forward it’s 10 back.

Anyway I’m hoping in keeping a diary I will feel motivated to do more, and give my self grace and gratitude for all I’m trying.

If you post a statement of affairs (income, outgoings, number of people in the household, how much you owe and the interest rates applicable to each debt, anything else financial or otherwise influencing your situation), people will try to be helpful.

Having a diary is a great start - moral support and accountability as well as new friends and useful ideas.

    All the best!

CAP (Christians Against Poverty) are well respected with helping those with money problems I'm sure an internet search would be able to give you contact details.

You want to move or you want to move your mortgage?  I think without a job (hopefully not for too long) and with debts either will be difficult.  You may need to simply remortgage with your current provider at whatever rate they offer and hope to change that later.

I agree that posting a SOA will make giving you some advice much easier.  But it will also be easier too if you are on the debtfree wannabe board rather than the one for diaries.  I hope you don't mind but I'm going to move this post over there - let me know if you want it moved back.

Meanwhile yes I agree that CAP is a great organisation for giving holistic often face to face advice while focusing on helping you deal with your debts.  Given the time of year and level of debt in the UK you may need to look at other organizations - Stepchange and NationalDebtline both do online work - but make sure they take things at the right pace for you rather than push you into a debt solution before your situation warrants it.  There's also Citizens Advice and Community Money Advice (CMA).  Hopefully there will be one organisation near you that can assist.

You might also want to post on the job board if you feel you need job search tips.

How are you paying the mortgage currently whilst unemployed?

The 30k of debt can wait, your mortgage payments can`t.
