ACI email

Happy New Year.

I'm new here, but I love listening to the weekly podcast.

I just received an email from ACI informing me that I will receive a visit at my home because I owe over £500. However, I have not received any prior letters, only this email.

I have a learning difficulty (Dyscalculia), and I am confident that I do not owe any money to them or the entities they collect debts for.

I do not want to contact them, in case I lose myself and get "manipulated" into paying for something, but I also want to avoid a visit or any court proceedings.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like a scam or at least a speculative communication.

Anything important comes by post. If you get a letter, respond with a prove-it

Look at the domain name the email came from, if its genuine, it will be from "aci.co.uk", if the sender is not recognised, then its most likely a scam.

There are lots of scammers out there, and this sounds like a scam email to me, there is no min level of debt that can require a home visit, if you redact personal information, then repost the email on this thread we can tell you in 5 seconds if its genuine or not simply by the terminology used in it.
