Lantern UK text

Hello , a work colleague has been getting text messages from Lantern UK. Asking for him to get in touch, they don't name him. They are also asking him to wattsapp them. He's an elderly gentleman and worries quite a bit, he says he has no debt. I've phoned lantern and they say they don't use wattsapp.
Is this a scam ??

Debt collection companies such as Lantern, do use texts/emails etc as a way to contact their potential clients.

The issue is they take a blanket approach to using this method, so some of those who get these texts may not be the debtor in question.

And there are an awful lot of scammers out there also.

Best advice is do not react to it at all, if a debt collector wants to ask you to pay a debt they believe is yours, they must by law write to you at your home address, so unless you get an actual letter, ignore it completely.

Tell him not to worry. They would call it a mistrace, which is in effect a scam

The rule in debt advice is to ignore texts, phone calls and emails.

If it's important they will write
