More structure in SIPP Portfolio 10 years to go

  • Thanks for in comments.  So have being rethinking what I really need.  Background target retirement in 10 years.   Joint retirement with us both, we will need cover for 5 years with between my SP and her DB Pension which covers our base line expenses, and when her SP kick in more than covers us.

    Defensive (16%)

A defensive part based on drawdown expectations for first 3 years increasing with inflation each year and the extending to 5 years when 5 years out from retirement.  £65,000 (16%)  Based on current ISA and SIPP Drawdown plan £20000 PA from Sipp Required for first 5 years.   10-5 years have 3 years defensive in MMF/Bonds/Gilts at 5-1Years out increase to 5 years spend adjusting inline with inflation annually.   Also I am making significant and increasing contributions through work to SIPP trying to max out when possible, so this also allows me £ cost average over time.

Logic - I will have the first 5 years income prior to state pension covered - giving me time to make adjustments.  also allowing more time to build a total pension pot.

    Dry Powder -10% (MMF/Bonds/Gilts)

Logic - US Valuations are high so this is to deploy on market corrections, while maybe a slight drag on total return it allows me flexibility to deploy on opportunities.  This will be activity used and built back up if when required.

    Growth Portfolio 74%

42.5% Global Growth - L&G Global Index or VWRP or Another ? (Under review)

7% Stock/ETF Selections (reducing over time, still see value in all current holdings)

    15% Special across 3 themes - Private Equity - Japan - Biotech (Through IT’s)

12.5% Gold and Miners (currently reducing down to 5%)  I am trimming the Gold and Miners as they have grown significantly over the past 12 months.  Will be redeploying into the growth bucket, likely into areas to hedge the level of exposure that the passive index has for USA and Mag 7 exposure.

Also have a 1 year expense cash buffer in CASH ISA and the rest in S&S which will be used as part of the plan for the first 5 years+ of retirement.

The current reality is that there is a good chance between OH and I we have more than enough to be comfortable, if we keep working and saving...

Thank you to everyone on this board so far… The comments and many other article read have helped me clarify what I think I need.   The next task is to simplify current holdings to the framework above, or even something simpler.
