Car finance query
I paid MG 2500 deposit fir just under 3 yr old car. Its had un 1st month, new starter motor new gear box then gear box now playing up again, jumps out of second when turning corner. They said in 1st 6month 10 yr warranty for engine mechanical failures wouldn't cover but then then fixed as gesture if goodwill. But now doing it again. Never have I ever had 3 yr old car with this many issues. If I return within mileage and issues can I get my deposit back? To get car elsewhere?

How long have you had the vehicle?
When were the starter motor and gearbox replaced?
When did the jumping out of gear fault start?
Please give an exact timeline.

Hi thanks for coming back so
How long have you had the vehicle? I got Feb 25
When were the starter motor and gearbox replaced? August replaced after a complaint as they said 10 year warranty only covered mechanical and gear box wasn't covered but as a gesture of good will after only 6 month ish sales team agreed to cover.
I was given an electric car told not to charge, but battery was only 60% charged so I had to call for update 2 days later bearing in mind they said would be 1 day. I rang and said battery low and as I don't have electric tariff at home need to bring back and had to chase my car repair.
When I collected I started car and fault light came on for auto engine cut off saying cinsult dealer. I went straight back but then when I went back to car as it was still running it had gone off so they said oh well just come back if needed.
When did the jumping out of gear fault start? First started July 25, then got to the point where it would try as it wasn't a key once I pressed start button it would just do a massive tractor sound best I can describe, I couldn't stop it with starter button, car front would jump around then eventually stop with all warning lights on. They tested this, at first said no signs but then said they then saw it and knew something wrong
Please give an exact timeline. So July reported, August car in, fixed with starter motor, even though I reported jumping out of 2nd gear they disputed but then when they took things apart saud I needed fly wheel and gear box and admitted this would have caused fear box issue .
Now after few months starter motor having issues again, 2nd gear popping out again, so as I say what the heck and as they argued that 10 yr manufacturer guarantee covered mechanical only. Although I've raised so far no response they gonna say I need to pay for gear box only starter motor covered, so if I want to take back and I paid deposit where do I stand?

I mean you tell them how much mileage you will do per year. I'm within that and carperfect apart from these faults so where do I stand with my deposit for a car that's a piece if crap?0 -
The warranty wording isn’t the main issue here. Your rights come from the Consumer Rights Act, not the manufacturer warranty. You reported the gearbox issue in July, the car went in during August, and they carried out a repair (even if they called it “goodwill”). Because the fault was raised within the first 6 months, the law assumes it was present at the time of sale unless the dealer can prove otherwise. A repair doesn’t reset that.If the same fault has now come back, that points to a failed repair. At that stage it isn’t about which part is “covered” — it’s about the car not being of satisfactory quality.Mileage limits and deposits usually apply to voluntary returns, not faulty cars. The key step now is to put everything in writing and ask them to either carry out a proper final repair or accept rejection under the Consumer Rights Act.0
