What to do

Happy New Year all,

Light bulb moment in 2022 woth the below huge debt.
Went to stepchange who were great 2022 to 2025.
May 2025 asked for ccas and got them all back.
Want self managed and paid less thinking I'd be snowballing up with full and finals.

The next one was at about £150.
My very one was at about £550 got a 2percnt discount and settled.
Have been paying £5 one each except the largest hsbcwhichjavebeen paying 25 percent of £200 available so paying £50 per month.

We can  afford £300 across them all but a but lost of what to do now really sp looking for advice

The next smallest is 600 link. Offered 200 to clear, they only.will accept currently 1 percent offcut don't have £540.

Offered 200 on 1k lowell as heard sometimes doffers but told aas not on benefits or behind on priority debts we do not qualify for a discount.

I feel like I need the dopamine hit of snowballing as we are 4 years in and want to see progress but not sure what to prioritise.

I tired offering 200 on 1k hsbc xx managed by moorcroft but thst was refused.

Offered.f and f to westoctt, also refused.

To comolicate things the very one, 2 aqua with link never defaulted as find this page late on and very on AP so wondering if that's the next focus.

The hsbc largest one at 5.5k they ring a lot so wondering if that's the focus but will take forever andante better if they sell it.

Too far along for affordability and probably we're affordable. Was just them birth of son, covi, cost of living, hime move, life that made the debts spiral.

I could just split the 300 across them all but feel ill never get any offers and will be mentally trjg from taking forever.

I guess I just thought I'd be settling more by now but 5 x are with link who only offer 10 percent off and don't jve the money to settle at those.figures.

As.before jave been paying 200, now have 300 available.

Thanks as ever for any advice, I'm proud of having paid off 56% but would like to see the number of creditors decreasing kn 2026.

Thanks all

W x

Can I just ask, the CCAs, are you sure you got every one back? If you did are you sure they were valid?

It is unusual that all were received and valid.

Aqua, not defaulted yet you are still paying, why?

    Thankyou for replying,
It took months but all came back, lots of paperwork for each, I think they are valid but did get lost in trying to work put if they were for a while.
For example I thought they all needed a statement of accounts but apparently that's actually not true on my debts.
I also wondered if not valid as some.didnt have signatures but apparently they don't auve to have them.
    So they ended up parked
I'm not sure they all how everything but I don't know how to gwt these checked really.

I was hoping 1 or 2  at least would come.bsck as not found

Aqua I'm paying £5  to each as now that we are 4 years in, amd they don't se to be on AP and show as normal I'm now thinking if I pay I'll avoid another 6 years with a default at this point - but wish they'd defaulted back in 22, 23 or even 24.

With the other defualts having 2/3 years to go ik thinking maybe better if thy don't now default - is that wrong though

Thanks so much for your help amd thoughts.

You do realize that if the debt is being marked 'Arrangement to Pay' it won't disappear from your credit report until 6 years have passed from the final payment  being made?

On experian, equifax, transition the aqua ones just show as account open amd normal. I'm not sure why.
The Very one is the only one with AP, so maybe the should be my focus to pay off quickest- or not pay off to default?
So I pay the £5 to aqua at this point along to not now get the Defaults.
I just feel a bit low and lost now.
I think we've done well but also need some.dopamine hits to keep going amd a strategy that isn't eg paying £50 to hsbc.as scared of ccj (they ring often) but also then that prob means will never get sold, but don't want ccj.

I just feel a bit tired and directionless after 4 years of battling.

    I appreciate your help

The Very one shows as delinquent on the credit agencies.
It was showing as normal and then whe  self managed and paid  lower £5 instead of £20 it came up as a missed payment so now reads as delinquent.

A CCJ would be way down the line, as long as you don't work in finance it is nothing to worry about, a court would, if it got that far only make it for an amount you could afford to pay.

I think you need to slow down work out exactly what have defaulted and provided valid CCAs, separate them from what haven't defaulted and stop paying the ones that haven't  defaulted.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

    Thankyou so much.
The non defualts are the aqua, Marbles and Very

How and where can I get the ccas checked that they are definitely valid as all back and appear in surface to be but not sure how to verify.

Just unsure if 4 years in i could now avoid those Defaults.

I guess mainly I was fixating on self managing and full and finals but are being refused which has left me deflated.

What would be the bemefit of paying 0 and getting a default over paying £5 and hopefully not getting a default now?
Is it that I'd get a better full and final offer along the line?
The 2 I offered link, one was defaulted and one not amd both they offered 10 percent off (don't have funds to pay 90 percent) but didn't seem to differ between defaulted and non defaulted.
    Thanks everyone

Like I have explained an Arrangement to Pay doesn't go from your credit report until 6 years after the final payment, so if it takes you another 3 years to clear your credit report will not be clear for 9 years. With a default it disappears 6 years from the date of the default even if you never pay another penny towards the debt.

This is why we always say wait until the debt has defaulted before starting to repay it.
